While I was in Santa Fe this summer, my husband was busy preparing a secret 23rd anniversary gift for me – A GREEN HOUSE!
Those of you who have been following my blogs for the last few years have read about my love for gardening and the trials and tribulations I had trying to save my tomato plants from rats.
If you remember, I LOST THE BATTLE!
Last growing season I was only able to enjoy 2 tomatoes from my garden. I vowed I would not go through the trouble of planting them again unless I had a green house to protect them.
Knowing that gardening is an essential part of my being, my husband took it upon himself to buy and assemble a special green house for me. It cost a good amount of money and required hours of back-breaking work to assemble it – piece by piece.
When we returned from Santa Fe and I spotted the green house, I screeched with delight – “This is the most romantic gift you could ever have given me!”
God has truly blessed me with the gift of my husband. Of all the people in the world, he is the one who knows me best, cherishes me the most, and blesses me each day of my life.
When I am working with engaged and married couples I try to educate them about the essence of love. I tell them:
“Love is an ACTION word. If you love someone, you will show it by your behavior.”
As human beings, we are not always able to show love through our actions. Many of us were wounded in childhood and fall short in our behavior, despite the best intentions of our hearts.
I assure you that God can heal you, teach you, and recreate you to become a truly loving person. You have only to ask Him for help, and then commit to the healing process.
In my book, Creating A Healthy Life and Marriage; A Holistic Approach: Body, Mind, Emotions and Spirit, I discuss the problems that threatened to end our marriage at the three year mark, and the hard work we both had to do to save it.
The book was written over a fifteen year period and the principles I learned during our healing process are contained in the book, and encapsulate the essence of my transformational therapy work with clients.
