Until today, I have purposely avoided any posts about cancer.
I came with Lakota Joy to recover from 8 months of 2 chemotherapies and their cumulative side effects – which caused me to almost lose my Self and gave me a severe depression.
We have now been here for 5 weeks and as I expected my immune system is recovering and rebuilding itself. Many of the lingering side effects have abated – thanks to rest, exercise, acupuncture and Aryvadic food coaching, the natural beauty in Santa Fe and my home here.
It has been totally peaceful and tranquil, joyful and fun until this week.
I went to Nexsus Health for a port flush and blood draw, expecting good improvements in my immune system. My bloodwork, in fact, had improved across the board – except the CA19-9 cancer marker which had increased from mid 4,000 on June 30th to 10,000.
Now, instead of being only in my heart and spirit, I have to gear up my Cerebral Cortex part of my brain, get out of midbrain “fight/flight/immobilization” mode.
Many questions: go home early? Schedule early CT scan? Interview more treatment centers for treatment options?
Pancreatic cancer is a mighty opponent.
I will continue under God’s guidance and care.
