This post and video represent one of the darkest periods in my 4-year-8-months journey with Pancreatic cancer. It occurred during the months of April, May and June 2025.
It documents my slow slide into depression and almost immobilization – and the reasons this happened to me. This near collapse is not unique to me. At some point in the life of a long-term cancer patient this happens to many cancer survivors. But usually, it is not talked about. People would rather hear about ” resilience, inspiration, hopefulness, personal empowerment, good treatment outcomes, encouraging stories.” Depressed people living with cancer often hide their struggles from themselves, family and friends – afraid to reveal weakness or to disappoint people around them. They struggle to “keep moving forward” until they collapse. It is vitally important to me as a Holistic psychotherapist and cancer advocate to “remove the veil of secrecy” and reveal the near breaking point where a person living with cancer “gives up the fight.” God rescued me at my breaking point. All Glory and Honor to my Holy Trinity, without whom I would not be able to go on. I send my Love and Encouragement to people around the world who are dealing with what feels like insurmountable challenges. Yes, I know the pain and desperation involved. This is my story, and I pray you will feel some kinship and inspiration to NOT GIVE UP. I have walked through the dark tunnel, climbed out of the dark pit, and am here as a person who has been restored and uplifted.
